Wildland Firefighter Hiring

Wildland Firefighter Hiring

The Forest Service Intermountain Region (Southern Idaho, Nevada, Utah, parts of Wyoming and California) is implementing a centralized wildland firefighter hiring process. This is an on going event that will happen twice a year. It will take place for two weeks in the spring and two weeks in the fall. During this time all vacant GS4-GS9 wildland firefighting positions will be filled. On this web site http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/fire/r4fire_hire/ you will find information on how to apply, a list of vacant positions and the location of all vacant wildland firefighter positions in the Intermountain Region.

The Intermountain Region Fire Hire program has been implemented to streamline the hiring process for permanent fire positions, and allow for more consistent hiring around the Region. This change of the hiring process is in response to a continual vacancy situation that all national forests in the Intermountain Region currently face. The unique feature of this process is the ability to immediately backfill positions that have been vacated.
